Sweet Virginia

I feel terribly guilty about the obscene abandonment of this blog, I just want you to know that, it's not that I unapologetically don't do anything about it. I mean, I don't do anything about it but I'm apologizing.

ANYWHO! Right now I'm in Uruguay and it's summertime. That means I have somewhat of a tan-in-progress and a whole bunch of unsexy mosquito bites. I will document my adventures once the tan is definitely there and the majority of the mosquito bites are gone.

I'm gonna leave you guys with some pictures of everybody's favorite swimsuit: The Sweet Virginia Suit, hope you likey!

Cool Content, Vol.2

When I first saw this girl I just couldn't take my eyes off her absofuckinglutely flawless face.

She wrote to me one day saying she wanted to model my swimsuits and I would have had to be a gigantic imbecile to say no.

Since I like to consider myself a non-gigantic imbecile, I went to the shoot where some great pictures were taken, and some great crustless salami sandwiches were eaten.

Take a look!

The Midnight Rambler.

Yellow!

I know I haven't been writing for a while, I will go ahead and blame it on the fact that I'm starting to design next collection, plus I started watching Girls and there's really no time for anything else.

Today I wanna introduce to you the Midnight Rambler, which is one kick-ass Rolling Stones song and one kick-ass swimsuit. You tell me!

People find me interesting enough to interview me, yahoo!

The lovely Shayne from Societe Perrier took the time to ask me some questions about La Belle Rebelle and made me look a lot more talented than I actually am, ha! It's so weird to read "Silberstein says". I mean, that's me! Makes me feel famous or something.

Here's the article. Enjoy!

I'm pasting the interview anyways, just in case you're like "hell no, it's friday, I'm too lazy to click on a link!". I'm not judging. I feel you.

Label Love: La Belle Rebelle Swimwear

There's a new kid on the block when it comes to edgy, fashion-forward swimwear in Miami, and that new kid is Fabiana Silberstein and La Belle Rebelle. Making its debut during Swim Week, her Spring/Summer 2013 collection is grouped into three different families, Romance, Pop, and Rebelle. The overall aesthetic is rock 'n' roll throwback with a dose of attention-grabbing playfulness in some of the hottest silhouettes of the season. Think, maillots, high-wasted briefs, and corseterie detailing, all in mix and match patterns.
Silberstein, originally from Uruguay, made Miami her home in 2009 by way of Buenos Aires where she initially pursued a degree in fashion merchandising. La Belle Rebelle was created to fill a void. Silberstein says, "I couldn't find the pieces that I wanted to wear at the beach, so I figured why not make them myself?"
She describes the La Belle Rebelle woman as "someone who is unapologetically feminine and girly with a wild, rock 'n' roll side. She never goes unnoticed. She's artistic, passionate, a daydreamer — and has impeccable style, of course."
Her suits are statement pieces. The Cosmic Dancer is particularly popular in both the Rose and Ice Cream prints. The high-waisted, cheeky bottoms are coupled with a strapless, underwire cup top. The Surfin Bird is one of Silberstein's favorites with its kitschy floral or island prints reminiscent of a Hawaiian doll from the '50s, but with a modern edge. The Heartbreaker is a distinctive mix of sugar and spice in a ruffled, floral bottom paired with a leopard print halter top.
The eclectic line is a testament to Silberstein's inspirations, amongst whom she counts Twiggy, Nico from the Velvet Underground, Mick Jagger, Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg, Holden Caulfield, Stanley Kubrick, and the stories of both F. Scott Fitzgerald and Woody Allen. "And everything related to the '60s," she adds.
This rocker babe line will no doubt turn heads at the beach or the pool. Starting next year La Belle Rebelle will be available at retailers in Miami and the online store is set to launch this month.

Dulce Rebelle.

Hey Ho!

It's Tuesday October 2nd and here in Uruguay it should be Spring already. Guess the weather didn't get the memo. It's cold and rainy and awful and I got two teeth extracted so I have no excuses not to blog!

A couple of months ago in Miami, I had the absolute pleasure to shoot my suits with an awesome photographer and overall cool dude Fred Love, who magically got the Angler's Hotel to lend us their beautiful space for us to shoot.

The models, Sunamys, Lindsay and Allie rocked it! I mean, they thought it was cool to drink Tampico juice straight out of the bottle. The gallon. Yeah.

They made it to Glass Book magazine so yahoo!

Okay, now back to my smoothie, which is basically the only think I can ingest.

peace!

Cosmic Dancer

So continuing with the introduction of my swimsuit designs, here is one that is everybody's favorite: the Cosmic Dancer! (which is also an awesome T-Rex song to listen to while ice-skating, or dancing, or just swinging your arms around, in slow motion of course)

When I saw that Ice Cream fabric for the first time I knew it would end up becoming a swim suit. So yeah.

And then there's another Cosmic Dancer with a Rose fabric:

This one is actually the one Lily of LePrettyStellar and Dani from Nany's Klozet chose.

And now, picture extravaganza!

Which one's your favorite??

Peace!
